SUMMARY:Storytelling Workshop: Neighbors
DESCRIPTION:We all have stories to tell. This workshop\, led by Lea
Colvill\, is an introduction to storytelling from your own lived
experience. With the help of various narrative strategies\, each
participant will learn to craft a roughly five-minute true story — spoken
or written — from their own life. To ground the workshop\, we'll focus on
the theme of "neighbors\," very loosely defined:\n\n\n	When did you need a
neighbor?\n	When were you a neighbor to someone else?\n	What does being a
neighbor mean to you?\n\n\nNo experience is necessary\; bring some ideas\,
or we'll help you brainstorm. In March\, we'll offer participants the
opportunity to share their stories with fellow community members.\n\nAbout
Lea\n\nLea Colvill has lived in Estes Park for just over a year. Her
previous home was near Yellowstone National Park. A frequent public
speaker\, Colvill incorporates storytelling into her work. She has taught
every age group\, from preschoolers to adults\, on a variety of subjects.
Colvill holds degrees in History\, Political Science\, and Education from
the University of Montana - Missoula. She also holds a Master of Divinity
from the University of the South in Sewanee\, Tennessee. Colvill believes
that stories help us create meaning\, and well-told stories make us more
resilient. One of her oldest possessions is a thesaurus purchased at a
scholastic book fair. She lives with her husband and a large tabby cat
 named Digory.
