Connect With the Classics: The Remains of the Day In-Person
Join us for our next Connect With the Classics book club discussion of Kazuo Ishiguro's The Remains of the Day, winner of the Booker Prize and the basis for the beloved 1993 film starring Anthony Hopkins and Emma Thompson. In this quiet, masterfully constructed novel, an aging English butler named Stevens embarks on a rare motoring holiday across the countryside, and, along the way, on an unexpected journey through memory, regret, and the life he may have let slip by. Ishiguro's prose is elegant and unhurried, yet the story builds to an emotional power that lingers long after the last page. All are welcome — no prior experience with the book club or with "classic" literature required.
Seating is limited, and we'll need at least three (3) registrations to hold the discussion, so we strongly encourage you to register. (You can always cancel if you won't be able to join us.) Copies of the book will be available for checkout in late June / early July (register to receive an email when they're in). If you're looking for a different format, you can also check our catalog.
