Genealogy Basics: Exploring Your American Revolutionary War Roots In-Person

Do you have a Revolutionary War patriot in your family tree? You might be surprised: millions of Americans are descended from men and women who helped found this nation, and many don't know it yet.

This program, presented in partnership with the Estes Park Genealogical Society, will show you how to find out whether you're one of them. We'll explore the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and Sons of the American Revolution (SAR), two lineage societies dedicated to honoring Revolutionary War patriots and their descendants. DAR member and genealogical researcher Judy Emmett will discuss what membership means, what these organizations offer, and, most importantly, how to use their free online resources at DAR.org and SAR.org to search for ancestors and build the evidence needed to connect your family to America's founding generation.

No genealogy experience is required--just curiosity about your roots. After the program, stick around for Genealogy Basics: Getting Started on Your Family History Search to discover more tools and tips for researching your ancestors, and to receive 1-on-1 assistance from experienced researchers.
