Verse in the Mountains: A Poetry Workshop Exploring Memory, Place, and Imagination In-Person

NOTE: This program will be held in the Game Room on the lower level of the Estes Valley Community Center, 660 Community Dr.

Join Susan Mockler, 2024 Rocky Mountain National Park Artist-in-Residence, for an inspiring poetry workshop that's perfect for writers of all levels, whether you've never written a poem or have been writing for years.

In the spirit of this year's Summer Reading Program theme, "Unearth a Story," this workshop invites you to explore your connection to nature and your local landscape by drawing inspiration from select poems featured in You Are Here: Poetry in the Natural World, edited by Ada Limón, our 24th U.S. Poet Laureate. We'll divide our time between reading and discussing 2-3 poems and prompted writing sessions. You'll also have the opportunity to share your work with the group, if you like, and receive feedback. We'll provide copies of poems and prompts — just bring your preferred writing implements (paper and pen/pencil). You'll leave the workshop with fresh inspiration, some writing to build on, constructive feedback (if you'd like to share your work), and a welcoming connection to other local poetry writers.

Seating is limited, and we'll need at least four registrations to run the program, so please register to attend.
