Making in Rocky Mountain National Park with Marilyn Irwin In-Person

For Maker March, join us to learn about Rocky Mountain National Park's Artist-in-Residence (AIR) Program and the history of the cabin where the Park's "maker-in-residence" resides. Retired park ranger, AIR ambassador, and Cliffhanger volunteer Marilyn Irwin will talk about the program and the rich history of the cabin that once belonged to newspaper editor and politician William Allen White. Bring your questions!

About Marilyn

Marilyn grew up in Iowa and began exploring the great outdoors while on visits to her grandparents' small town. A trip to Rocky Mountain National Park in 1979 transformed her love of the outdoors into a love of the mountains. She bought a house in Estes Park in 1987 and moved here permanently in 2001. After a 33-year career as an elementary school teacher, Marilyn began offering educational programs as a summer park ranger at RMNP in 1990. Her speciality was first-person narrative programs, playing the role of historical figures and describing their adventures in the Park. She retired from her ranger role in 2019, but returned to work as the assistant to the AIR program coordinator in 2024. She has two granddaughters, ages 8 and 4.
