Housing: What Shall We Do? Development Code Update Public Deliberation In-Person
Meeting community housing needs has long been a challenge, and the Estes Forward Comprehensive Plan adopted in 2022 contains a number of goals around creating new housing opportunities. At the same time, community members hold strong values with respect to town and neighborhood character. To help identify common ground and ways to move forward on housing, Community Conversations, a collaboration between the Estes Valley Restorative Justice Partnership and the Estes Valley Library, will be holding public deliberations to bring community members together across perspectives in facilitated, small-group discussions. The information we gather from the discussions will, in turn, inform the Town’s ongoing Development Code update.
CLICK HERE to register for a deliberation. Space is limited, so please sign up for only one of the two dates. Registration information will be kept confidential.
Details:
- Thursday, October 9 or Wednesday, October 15, 5:30-8 PM
- Estes Park High School Commons (1600 Manford Ave)
- Dinner will be provided starting at 5:30; deliberation runs from 6-8
- Childcare and Spanish language interpretation will also be provided - please sign up when registering
- All participants will receive a $10 gift card to Safeway (limit one per family)
- Before the event, registrants will be emailed a briefing document with helpful background information.
Participating in one of these public deliberations is an important way to add your voice to the process of updating the Town Development Code. The Development Code is a set of regulations and standards that guide land use, zoning, development, and design within town limits, and it impacts issues from town look/feel/character to wildfire mitigation to wildlife protection to incentives for development of workforce and attainable housing. In other words, the Development Code helps shape the physical, economic, and social landscape of the town. You can learn more about the Development Code update here.
