Botanical Bundles - Naturally Dyed Scarves

Botanical Bundles - Naturally Dyed Scarves In-Person

Step away from the synthetic and rediscover the beauty of nature’s palette in this hands-on, two-part workshop inspired by our Back to Basics monthly theme. By using household ingredients like carrot shavings, turmeric, coffee grounds, avocado pits, and onion skins, you’ll create a bundle-dyed silk scarf that celebrates simplicity, sustainability, and self-expression.

Session 1: Gather & Bundle
Learn the basics of natural dyeing and explore the unexpected colors hidden in everyday kitchen leftovers. Choose your natural materials, artfully arrange them, and bundle your scarf for steaming. Scarves will be steamed off-site to set the dye and bring your design to life.

Session 2: Reveal & Refine
Return for the grand unveiling of your unique scarf!  Then, make it truly your own with embellishments like fringe, simple embroidery, or decorative stitching - using tools and materials from the Makerspace.

No experience necessary. Just bring your curiosity and a willingness to get a little messy!

If you have organic, compostable items such as onion skins, carrot peels, flower petals, coffee grounds, tea leaves, berries, etc. that you would like to use or donate to the program, please bring them with you.
