Writing Workshop: Sudden, Flash, & Micro or Short, Shorter, & Shortest Fiction

Writing Workshop: Sudden, Flash, & Micro or Short, Shorter, & Shortest Fiction In-Person

Note: This is the first of a two-session workshop. By signing up for this event, you're automatically registered for both sessions, and you agree to attend both sessions. See below for more details.

We all have stories to tell, whether they live on the surface of our consciousness or are buried deep in our core. Grant Faulkner wrote, “Stories remind us that we are alive, and what being alive means.” Curious about your stories? Join us for a two-session workshop on short-short (sometimes called sudden, flash, or micro) fiction writing. These forms range from 1500 words to a single sentence. Workshop participants will explore traditional fiction concepts and apply them to shorter forms that lend themselves to concise and compelling narratives.

The workshop will be held at the following times and locations:

  • Session 1: Monday, November 11, 5:30-7 PM, Wasson Board Room at the Library
  • Session 2: Wednesday, November 20, 5:30-7 PM, Hondius Community Room at the Library

Registration is required. These sessions are sequential, and Session 2 builds on Session 1. By signing up for this event, you're automatically registered for both sessions, and you agree to attend both sessions. Also note that the workshop requires a minimum of six participants to go forward (so tell your friends!).
