Weekly Poetry Meetup

Weekly Poetry Meetup In-Person

Calling all poets, aspiring poets, and anyone interested in creating poetry! Join us at the Library on Monday evenings to share your poetry, enjoy others' work, and receive/provide feedback. After introductions, we'll do a brief creative exercise to break the ice, then go around the room to share completed poems or works in progress. Each participant will have the opportunity to share, and then other members of the group will reflect and provide constructive feedback. The program will be facilitated by community member Alexis Silva, who brings experience from attending poetry workshops in his hometown. We'll agree to ground rules (see the document attached to this listing) that will help keep things respectful and productive. Our goal is to give participants a welcoming space to share, receive feedback on their work, and create community through poetry.

Participants are encouraged to register (see below) and provide written copies of the poem(s) they plan to share. You can either print 8-10 copies of your poem(s), or email them to ewhite@estesvalleylibrary.org and the Library will print them.

About our facilitator

Alexis Silva (he/him) is originally from Los Angeles, California. He studied at the University of California, Davis, where he recently received a B.A. in Music Composition, with a minor in English. During his time at UC Davis, Alexis worked as an ambassador at the university’s arboretum, where he developed a strong love for the outdoors. He is passionate about poetry and loves exploring the relationship between personal experiences and the natural world. The idea for this poetry group is inspired by a similar meetup he regularly attended in L.A. This summer, Alexis is excited to be interning at Rocky Mountain National Park, where he hopes to help form meaningful connections both within the Park and in the greater Estes Park community. In his free time, Alexis loves exploring new hiking trails, writing, and trying new coffee shops in search of the best iced matcha latte!
