Pietro Simonetti, author and adventurer, will join us to discuss his 2023 Across the Atlas humanitarian expedition to the remote Upper Mustang region of Nepal, along with two books that connect to his journey:

• The Rhythm of Breath follows the Across the Atlas humanitarian expedition to Upper Mustang in May/June 2023. National Geographic photographer Michele Dalla Palma put together a stunning photo journal that captures the beauty of the landscape and lives of the people who call the region home. Text in Italian and English.
• Ghosts of Our Perception is a collection of short stories highlighting some of the unusual characters Pietro met during his travels in some of the most remote corners of the world, including Nepal. What’s different about the book is that each story was written without interruption, from start to finish, and that none has been edited. The stories were written in a very “human style,” with mistakes and all. Text in Italian and English.

About Pietro Simonetti

An experienced skier and mountaineer, Pietro has led expeditions in some of the most inhospitable regions on planet Earth. He has lived, worked in, or explored more than 80 countries throughout the world, adventure skiing in more than 40 of them. A graduate of the University of Colorado’s School of Business, with an MBA from Regis University, Pietro is also the longtime President of the Colorado Cancer Foundation (CCF), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to helping Colorado cancer patients, and raises funds for cancer research. In fact, most of Pietro’s expeditions have been fundraisers for the Colorado Cancer Foundation. Pietro currently lives in Boulder with his wife and teenage daughter.
