[CANCELLED] Don't fret, just keep plucking: BANJOS! In-Person
In this program, we will go over the history of the banjo as an instrument, its African roots and use in American music. Different styles of playing and types of banjos will be demonstrated and participants will get a chance to touch, feel and play a full size banjo.
Joshua James Johnson is an Estes Park based banjo player and singer songwriter. Born and raised in Louisiana, Joshua spent his youth listening to the folk and bluegrass revival of the early 2000s, but spent his early adult years playing in rock bands, creating electronic music and later performing in musical theatre productions. He would later move to Iowa, where he played regularly in area bluegrass bands while getting experience in music education and instrument repair.
